iCloud-Fehlermeldung in Outlook

The set of folders cannot be opened. MAPI was unable to load the information service C:\PROGRA~2\COMMON~1\Apple\Internet Services\APLZOD.dll. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured.

It's not a bug, it's by-design

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Security\

Nachtrag: Das Update vom 27. Juli 2017 macht erneut Probleme.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Security\

As many others, I experienced problems synchronizing Outlook with the iPhone.
In my case, the mails were not affected since they are with Gmail.

Here is what I did and what eventually worked.
The medicine starts with homeopathy, where belief cures, and ends with hard-core chemo-therapy, where death cures.
But don't worry. If you make a proper backup (see G) you can always revert to the level of misery you started with (see H).

    Good luck!

S Starting – Make sure that you use the same iCloud with the iPhone and with Outlook and also use the same calendar

S1 iPhone: Goto Settings > Accounts & Passwords > iCloud: Note the "aa.bb@cc" text on top of the screen
S2 iPhone: Goto Calendar > Calendar: Check the colour of the iCloud calendar and compare it with the colour of your events
S3 iPhone: (optional) Make iCloud Calendar as standard: Goto settings > Calendar > Standard Calendar: Choose iCloud Calendar
S4 Outlook: When connecting to the iCloud with iCloud for Windows (see D) you should have used "aa.bb@cc"
if you are not sure, goto S5 or execute D
S5* Outlook: (the information below might not be 100% correct, but i know no other method):
windows + run > regedit (needs admin privileges)
Type Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Apple Computer, Inc.\Outlook WebDAV Addin in the command line
Check the key "AccountID". It shows the login of the iCloud, which is used. It should show "aa.bb@cc"

    goto A

    A Check settings in Outlook

    A1 Open Outlook
A2* Check, whether the App iCloud for Windows is active
File > Options > Add-ins. "iCloud-Add-in" should be listed in "Active Application Add-ins"
    if not, goto D
A3* Make sure that iCloud is not the default account
File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Data Files. iCloud must not be the default account
if iCloud is the default account, choose another account

if all is correct, goto B

B Method light – works sometimes

    B1 Close Outlook
    B2 Log-in your iCloud at https://www.icloud.com
B3 Check, whether iCloud is in sync with the iPhone
If not, I don't know what to do, since it never happened to me so far
B4 Go to the iCloud app in Windows
    windows-key > "iCloud" > click "iCloud"
B5* Disable Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks > Apply
    B6 Wait a few seconds
B7 Enable Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks > Apply
    B8 Open Outlook
B9* Check by creating a test event (later also a contact and a task) in the iPhone and in Outlook
    Refresh Outlook: Send/Receive > Send/receive all folders. Send/Receive > Refresh iCloud
Refresh iPhone: Goto Mail > drag the screen down
    Refresh Outlook again: see above
This might take some time. Allow 1-2 minutes before continuing

    if not successful, goto C

C Method medium – always worked, but did not solve the problem definitively so far

    C1 Close Outlook
C2 Backup the Outlook file concerned: Execute G
C3 Go to the iCloud app in Windows, see B4
C4* Choose: Sign out > Delete from computer
Leave the next window open, which is the activation-window for iCloud in Windows
    C5 Open Outlook
C6* Check if iCloud is absent in Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks
If not: Delete the iCloud reference
    C7 Close Outlook
C8* Activate iCloud in Windows, using the window of Step C4
C9* Choose Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks > Apply. A local copy will be created from the iCloud in the internet
    C10 Check, see B9

    if successful, delete the backup-file(s)
if the Outlook file is corrupted, goto H
if the Outlook file is not corrupted and the method is not successful, goto D

D Method Hardcore – will probably work and might solve the problem definitively

D1 Get the latest copy of iCloud for Windows at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204283
Save it on the desktop (e.g.)
    D2 Execute C1 through C4
    D3* Uninstall iCloud for Windows
    windows-key > "apps" > click "apps & features" > iCloud > modify > uninstall
    D4 Execute C5 through C7
D5 Install iCloud for Windows by executing the downloaded file on the desktop, follow the instructions
    D6 Execute A
    D7 Execute C8 through C9

    if successful, delete the backup-file(s)
if the Outlook file is corrupted, goto H
if the Outlook file is not corrupted and the method is not successful, I am out of medicine :-(

G Backup the Outlook file concerned

    G1 Close Outlook
    G2 Open the Explorer (windows-keys + e)
G3* Enter C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook in the address field
G4* If there are several *.ost files:
Find the right file (xxx.ost) by creating a test event and observe the "Date modified field" in the explorer
If you are unsure: Backup all *.ost files in step G6 and G7
    G5 Close Outlook
    G6 Copy xxx.ost: High-light it > Ctrl + c
G7 Paste xxx.ost: Ctrl + p. A new file "xxx – Copy.ost" is created in the same folder

H Restore the Outlook file in question

    H1 Execute G1 trough G3
    H2 Delete the file "xxx.ost"
H3 Delete the part " – Copy" in the file name of "xxx – Copy.ost" (do not delete the file itself)
so the file will be named "xxx.ost"
