In diesem Blog-Beitrag habe ich eine Liste (inoffizieller) Sicherheitsupdates für Juli 2017, die man für Windows Vista verwenden kann, zusammen getragen. Die Update-Installation muss aber manuell erfolgen.

Windows Vista – kein offizieller Support mehr
Windows Vista ist ja offiziell seit April 2017 aus dem Support herausgefallen – ich hatte darüber im Blog-Beitrag Windows Vista erreicht End of Life (11.4.2017) berichtet. Daher bietet Microsoft auch keine Sicherheitsupdates per Windows Update für dieses Betriebssystem mehr an.
Inoffiziell kann man sich aber die Updates für Windows Server 2008 aus dem Microsoft Update Catalog herunterladen und manuell in Windows Vista installieren. Dabei ist auf 32 oder 64 Bit zu achten. Diesen Ansatz habe ich im Blog-Beitrag Tipp: Updates für Windows Vista nach Supportende thematisiert.
Inoffizielle Juli 2017-Updates für Vista

Das erinnert mich sehr stark an meinen Windows XP Rechner der regelmäßig Embedded Updates installiert.
Wenn man sich überlegt wie lange verschiedene Versionen noch mit Updates versorgt werden können. Wenn man es als Nutzer will. MS scheint da ja nicht aktiv gegen vor zu gehen.
Damit würden ja Windows XP/Vista/ 7 ziemlich zeitnah ihr letztes update erhalten.
Auch interessant ist der Premiumsupport für weitere 6 Jahre. Somit kann Windows Server 2008 über 16 Jahre im Einsatz bleiben.
