Windows 10 / Windows Server Preview Updates (25.1.2022)

Windows[English]Microsoft hat zum 25. Januar 2022 (D-Week) einen Schwung optionaler, kumulativer (Vorschau-) Updates  freigegeben. Diese sollen diverse Bugs in Windows 10, Windows 11 und in den entsprechenden Windows Server-Versionen. Nachfolgend gebe ich einen Überblick bezüglich dieser Updates für Windows 10 und die betreffenden Windows Server-Versionen.

Die Informationen zu den Updates finden sich in der Windows 10 Update-History-Seite. Zu beachten ist, dass es sich bei diesen Updates um sogenannte Preview- oder Vorschau-Updates handelt. Diese sind optional und müssen standardmäßig manuell zum Download und zur Installation angestoßen werden.

Update KB5009596 für Windows 10 20H2-21H2/Server 20H2

Das kumulative Preview Update KB5009596 steht für Windows 10 20H2 bis Version 21H2 sowie Windows Server 20H2 bereit und hebt die Builds auf  19042.1503 (Version 20H2), 19043.1503 (Version 21H1) und 19044.1503 (Version 21H2). Das Update beinhaltet Qualitätsverbesserungen, aber keinen neuen Betriebssystemfunktionen. Hier die Liste der als Highlights bezeichneten Änderungen:

  • ​​​​​​Adds a reminder to Internet Explorer 11 that notifies you about its upcoming retirement.
  • Updates an issue that might sometimes cause Japanese Microsoft Office applications stop working when you use the new Japanese Input Method Editor (IME).
  • Updates an issue that stops printing or prints the wrong output when you print using USB on Windows 10, version 2004 or later.
  • Updates an issue that causes applications to stop working when you type text using the Chinese IME.
  • Updates an issue that prevents certain surround sound audio from playing in Microsoft Edge.
  • Adds a new feature that provides direct access to select your Microsoft Edge profiles from news and interests. You can also go to Microsoft Edge directly from news and interests in the same corresponding profile.
  • Adds a new feature called Sync Your Settings for users who are migrating to Windows 11, original release. You'll use Sync Your Settings to automatically back up a list of your applications to your Microsoft Account. Then, you can quickly restore those application on a Windows 11, original release device. This new feature that will deploy over the coming weeks.
  • Updates an issue that causes functioning Bluetooth devices to stop working when you attempt to connect to a non-functioning Bluetooth device.
  • Updates daylight savings time to start in February 2022 instead of March 2022 in Jordan.
  • Updates the phone number for Windows Activation for locales that have the wrong phone number.

  • Addresses an issue that affects the Fast Identity Online 2.0 (FIDO2) credential provider and prevents the display of the PIN entry box.
  • Addresses an issue that causes Windows to stop working and generates the error, "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".
  • Addresses an issue that might cause the Get-TPM PowerShell command to fail when it attempts to report Trusted Platform Module (TPM) information. The command fails with the error, "0x80090011 Microsoft.Tpm.Commands.TpmWmiException,Microsoft.Tpm.Commands.GetTpmCommand".
  • Addresses an issue that causes the AltGr key to stop working if a remote desktop client is running or if RemoteApp was disconnected.
  • Adds a new feature that provides direct access to select your Microsoft Edge profiles from news and interests. You can also go to Microsoft Edge directly from news and interests in the same corresponding profile.

  • Addresses an issue that might occur when you enable verbose Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) audit logging and an invalid parameter is logged. As result, Event 207 is logged, which indicates that a failure to write to the audit log occurred.
  • Addresses a memory leak that occurs when you call WinVerifyTrust(). This issue occurs if verification fails for the first signature of a file that has multiple signatures.

Das Update ist optional und wird nur angeboten, wenn der Nutzer explizit in der Einstellungen-Seite optionale Updates zur Installation auswählt. Das Update lässt sich auch aus dem Microsoft Update Catalog herunterladen und installieren. Das neueste Servicing Stack Update (SSU) ist integriert. KB5009616 für Windows 10 LTSC 2019/Server 2019

Das kumulative Preview Update KB5009616 steht für Windows 10 LTSC 2019 sowie Windows Server 2019 bereit und hebt die Build auf 17763.2510 an. Das Update beinhaltet Qualitätsverbesserungen, aber keinen neuen Betriebssystemfunktionen. Hier die Liste der als Highlights bezeichneten Änderungen:

  • Addresses an issue that affects Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) in Audit Mode. This issue generates events for managed code that causes performance issues when you load managed code.
  • Addresses an issue that causes lsass.exe to stop working and the device restarts. This issue occurs when you query Windows NT Directory Services (NTDS) counters after the NTDS service has stopped.
  • Addresses a known issue that affects versions of Windows Server that are in use as a Key Management Services (KMS) host. Client devices running Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 might not activate. This issue only occurs when using a new Customer Support Volume License Key (CSVLK) and after installing updates released April 22, 2021 or later.
  • Addresses an issue that might occur when you enable verbose Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) audit logging and an invalid parameter is logged. As result, Event 207 is logged, which indicates that a failure to write to the audit log occurred.

    Nach der Installation von KB5009596 habe ich jetzt die Version Windows 10
    21H2 ( Build 19044.1503 ) auf dem PC.

    KB5009467 hat sich automatisch installiert, ohne daß ich Dieses verhindern
    konnte.

    Keine Rede mehr von den Bugfixes für DCs, HyperV und ReFS. Das heißt, für Microsoft ist der Fall erledigt (obwohl bei ReFS nicht alle Varianten des Problems gefixt sind) und auch keine Freigabe der Notfallupdates per automatischem Update/WSUS. Ich glaube, so viele Admins in einem Monat haben noch nie zuvor Updates manuell in den WSUS importiert.

      Das passt schon zu den Januar-Problemen.

      Ich musste jetzt auch noch mal nachlesen, um es zu glauben. Hielt das mittlerweile für ein typisches"ist halt so".
      Aber, ehrlich gesagt, glaube ich es erst, wenn ich das eingespielt habe und das Ganze ein paar Monate lang nicht mehr auftritt…

    ich habe das unter Win10 21H2 mal getestet. das kumulative vom Januar war schon drauf, das neue Preview für .Net hat sich ungefragt selbst installiert und dann habe ich erst das KB5010793 aus dem .msu installiert und bin danach dem Wunsch nach Neustart nachgekommen.

    KB5009596 (nix von Preview im Text, aber optional) hat zur Überraschung keinen Neustart angefordert. Eine neue Suche hat es wieder angezeigt !? und wieder ewig vor sich hininstalliert, die Version stand weiterhin auf .1496.

    also trotzdem Neustart und siehe da, es gab viel zu tun und jetzt steht die Version auf .1503 und die wird schon fast richtig im WSUS angezeigt…

    dann freuen wir uns schon mal auf ein lange andauerndes Update ab 8. Februar.

    Das Update KB5009596 lässt sich nicht installieren: Fehler 0x800f0922. Nach der Installation deinstalliert Windows 10 Pro das Update mit Hinweis auf den Fehler sofort wieder. Gibt es schon einen Tipp, was man da tun kann?
