Skype[English]Microsoft hat aktuell wohl Probleme mit seinem Telefoniedienst Skype for Business. Benutzer monieren eine schlechte Videoqualität für Skype for Business bei Telefonaten.

Bald ist jeder Microsoft-Online-Dienst dieser Tage wegen einer Störung dran gewesen. Rumpelte es die Tage bei Microsoft Teams wegen der große Belastung mit Home-Office-Anwendern, hat es jetzt Skype for Business-Nutzer getroffen. Die Statusseite meldet, dass alles in Ordnung sei. Blog-Leser Andreas hat mir aber aus dem Administrator-Dashboard folgende Statusmeldungen kopiert (danke dafür).

Das Ganze läuft bereit seit dem 17. März 2020 und hält wohl noch an. Gemeldet werden schlechte Audio- und Videoqualität bei Skype for Business-Verbindungen. Noch jemand betroffen?

    Nur mal ein Schuss ins Blaue, da so viele Content-Anbieter den bösen Corona als steile Werbevorlage verwenden: Könnte da ein CDN drosseln? Ich meine, Netflix, YouTube (und Weitere) drosseln ja bereits herunter, um die ach so kostbare Bandbreite der ISPs nicht unnötig zu belasten.
    Microsoft selber würde das wohl nicht veranlassen, aber unter Umständen eben verantwortliche Dienstleister (läuft ja nicht alles über DE-CIX, welches sich zu Tode langweilt).

      Ich glaube MS kommt an seinen Peerings an die Grenzen. Man sieht das teilweise bei Onedrive, da bekomme ich seit dieser Woche tagsüber nicht immer die volle Leistung, sondern nur einen Bruchteil oder extrem schwankende Streams.
      Heute einige Profile repariert (Profil löschen und neu erstellen / dann die Daten neu synchronisieren), jedes mal konnte man von Onedrive die Daten mit vollen 100 Mbit runterladen. Gestern bekam ich max. 50 MBit, teilweise weniger.

    Schön wären auch ein allgemeiner Artikel zu Videotelefonie. Was sollte man nehmen, was kann ich auch meinen Eltern zumuten? Skype (classic, non business), Teams (gratisversion), Hangouts, Google Duo, WhatsUp (trotz Facebook), …?

      Wenn Datenschutz ein Thema ist, kämen eher Eigenlösungen wie Jitsi oder Nextcloud Talk in Frage. Allerdings… Jitsi ist mistig in der Einrichtung und Nextcloud Talk ein Grauen in der Bedienung.

      Einfacher wäre es, wenn der Anspruch keine Echtzeit-Videotelefonie wäre; dann käme ein XMPP Server in Frage (Android: Conversations, Pix-Art Messenger etc., Windows: Gajim, Pidgin und auch für Apple gibt es Kandidaten).
      Nachteil ist halt der fehlende Echtzeit-Teil, Videos wie Sprachnachrichten sind nicht Jedermanns Sache (und ich finde diese Art der Kommunikation persönlich sehr gruselig).
