Windows: Optionale Updates und Revisionen 16.2.2016

Am 16. Februar 2016 hat Microsoft erneut einen Schwung optionale Updates für diverse Microsoft-Betriebssysteme und –Produkte freigegeben sowie Update-Revisionen re-released. Hier ein paar Infos.

Erste Hinweise gab es bereits im Nutzerkommentar hier (erst einmal danke dafür – unschön natürlich, wenn da keine KB-Nummern genannt werden, aber gefragt wird, was zu tun sei  – die Glaskugel gibt es hier nicht, da ich diese in die Pfandleihe bringen musste). Die Windows 8.1-Kiste boote ich jetzt mal nicht (eine VM müsste erst einmal 90 andere Updates herunterladen, bevor da was gefunden wird).

Ich habe mal mein Windows 7-Update befragt und nur zwei optionale Updates angeboten bekommen.

  • KB3118401: Update für universelle C Run Time in Windows; Das ist wohl ein Revision der Windows 10 Universal CRT, die für

    – Windows Server 2012 R2
    – Windows 8.1
    – Windows RT 8.1
    – Windows Server 2012
    – Windows Server 2008 R2 Servicepack 1 (SP1)
    – Windows 7 SP1
    – Windows Server 2008 Servicepack 2 (SP2)
    – Windows Vista SP2

    nachgerüstet wird. Das Update sollte installiert werden, da es die Verwendung von CRT-Funktionen unter den genannten Betriebssystemen aus Anwendungen ermöglicht. Ich hatte zur CRT-Funktion hier was geschrieben.

  • KB3121255:  "0 x 00000024" Stop-Fehler in FsRtlNotifyFilterReportChange und bei der VSS-Sicherung von PI Datenservern; das optionale Update sollte installiert werden, wenn der Computer mit dem Stop-Fehler 0x00000024 unter Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012 und Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 abstürzt. Zudem hilft das Update, falls es zu Abstürzen bei Verwendung der CopyFileEx-Funktion in Programmen kommt, wenn diese auf den VSS-Dienst zugreifen und die Fehlermeldung "ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER" erscheint.

Beide Updates erfordern einen Neustart.

Update-Revision MS16-015 (kritisch) und MS16-FEB

Gleichzeitig wurden zwei frühere Updates aus 2016, MS16-15 und das MS16-FEB einer Revision unterzogen.

    Entschuldigen Sie bitte, wenn ich nochmals doof nachfrage.

    Ich habe als Windows-7-Nutzer, welcher KEIN Windows 10 möchte, ebenfalls die erwähnten optionalen Updates KB3118401 und KB3121255 erhalten.

    In der Erklärung zu KB3118401 schreiben Sie etwas über "Windows 10 Universal CRT", was ich als Laie nicht verstehe. Der Begriff "Windows 10" lässt mich aber gleich aufhorchen.

    Kann ich wirklich ohne Bedenken beide Updates installieren, wenn ich wie gesagt kein Windows 10 will? Was raten Sie mir?

    Eine weitere Frage: Muss man bei diesen Update-Revisionen etwas unternehmen oder läuft das automatisch im Hintergrund ab? Ich höre wirklich zum ersten Mal im Leben von einer "Update-Revision". Oder geht mich das gar nichts an, weil dies nur User mit einem Mac betrifft?

    • Update-Revisionen sind Updates, die Microsoft überarbeitet hat und dann in neuer Revision wieder herausgibt. Wenn Mac in der Beschreibung steht, bezieht sich das auf Mac (z.B. Office). Wenn Windows als betroffenes OS steht, bezieht sich das auf Windows!

      Und ob so ein Update optional oder kritisch (wichtig) ist, ist im betreffenden Text ebenfalls vermerkt. Je nach Einstufung des Updates und der Update-Einstellungen erfolgt die Installation automatisch oder auf Nutzerfreigabe.

      Und nicht alles, was Windows 10 im Namen hat, bedeutet Windows 10 Upgrade. Zur C Run Time: auch da hatte ich was verlinkt! Wer meint, die Funktionen nicht zu brauchen und dessen Software läuft, braucht die optionalen Updates nicht. Bitte aber nicht beschweren, wenn irgendwann Programm xyz einen Laufzeitfehler meldet.

        Ich finde es toll, dass Sie hier erklären, was unter den einzelnen Patches zu verstehen ist und ob sie sinnvoll sind oder nicht. Das hilft allen Nutzern wirklich sehr.

      das Update ist "sicher". CRT = C++ Runtime. Man benötigt es, wenn man Programme ausführt, die mit VC++ 2015 erzeugt wurden

    Was sagt ihr denn zu den zahlreichen optionalen Updates unter Windows 8.1? Wie geht ihr damit um? Bin irgendwie verunsichert, zumal die Beschreibungen alle auf Englisch sind.

      Ich hab mich inzwischen auch ein bisschen durch die verschiedenen KB-Nummern der optionalen Updates unter Windows 8.1 gelesen. So, wie ich es verstehe, handelt es sich bei den ganzen Patches um diverse Fehlerbehebungen, und die können ja, denke ich, nicht verkehrt sein. :-)

      wenn du unsicher bist, installiere die optionalen Updates nicht. Wenn MS genug Telemetrie Daten von Nutzer hat, die sie installiert haben, werden sie am nächsten Patchday als empfohlene Updates verteilt, so dass alle Nutzer sie bekommen

        Auch "empfohlene" Updates sind optional. Solange man nicht " Empfohlene Updates auf die gleiche Weise wie wichtige Updates bereitstellen" ausgewählt hat, passiert da gar nix mit.

    Sehr geehrter Herr Born,
    vielen Dank für die rollierenden und sehr zeitnahen Checks der KB Updates.
    Leider ist es in den letzten Monaten vorgekommen, daß diese Updates auch erheblichen Schaden anrichten, ich einmal die Systemwiederherstellung in
    Anspruch nahm (Outlook 2010) und auch einige Updates wieder deinstallierte.
    Zwischenzeitlich konsultiere ich erst Ihre Website.

    Folgender aktueller Fall:
    Original MS Windows 7 Home 32Bit.
    Wichtiger Update für MS Security Essentials 4.9.218.0 KB3140527
    Optionale Updates Definition 1.213.6285.0 + 1.213.5996.0 KB2310138
    Nach dem Einspielen der Updates und Systemneustart lässt sich MSE
    nicht mehr mit Doppelklick, bzw. Rechtsklick + "Öffnen" starten.
    Start nur noch "Als Administrator ausführen" möglich.
    Für mich etwas ärgerlich, wenn man jedes mal zuwartet und das
    Programm keinen Mucks macht.
    Ob es sinnvoll ist, den Start nur noch als Admin zu erlauben,
    würde ich gerne von Ihnen wissen.
    (Bei den MSE Updates war ich bislang arglos, jetzt gibt es damit
    auch schon Probleme…)

      Wichtiger Update für MS Security Essentials 4.9.218.0 KB3140527 ist fehlerhaft. Es blockiert die Kontensteuerung und verändert diverse Einstellungen.
      Lösung: Im abgesicherten Modus starten, MS Security Essentials deinstallieren, dann System neu starten. Alles geht wieder wie zuvor.
      Wichtig ! Jetzt das System vor den 23.02.2016 zurücksetzen. Danach sollte das MS Security Essentials wieder draufsein. Dann auf Windows Update. Wenn das Update für MS Security Essentials 4.9.218.0 KB3140527 erscheint, dieses ausblenden, um die Installation zu verhindern. Fertig !
      Nicht vergessen, Aktualisierungen seit dem 23.02.2016 zu wiederholen.
